COUNTRY LIVING: Star Farrier Rachael Kane
Rachael Kane is a highly skilled farrier who has just returned from Missouri where she received her journeyman accreditation. She wants to show other country women that farrier work is not just for men.

Proactive Farrier Services is operated by Rachael Kane in and around the Yarra Valley of Victoria.

Rachael is committed to mastering traditional techniques, and to staying abreast of modern science, in order to do the best for all horses in her care.

She collaborates and networks with other farriers & equine professionals around the world to share a deep understanding of all things equine.

Rachael has undertaken education in Australia and the US and continues to challenge herself with competition and peer review.

Rachael recently won first place in the Intermediate Level of the Australian Farrier Championships in Adelaide.

“It’s so stupid to like doing something so hard, but it’s so gratifying,” Rachael says, her words punctuated by the scrape of metal on metal.

“Even now, if I have a week off and then I get back under a horse I just laugh at how much I love doing it.”
